PROSPECTUS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THIS ENTIRE PROSPECTUS
The SMI International 2007 Exhibition This juried exhibition is of the Society of Master Impressionists and will be hosted by The Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo in the Sunset Center Exhibition Hall in Amarillo, Texas.

About the Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo and The Sunset Center The Sunset Art Center is one of vision for artists and patrons to commingle under one roof, it is respected for its galleries, studios, art school and co-op galleries. The Sunset Center in Amarillo has well over 13,000 sq ft. exhibition space, with it’s sprawling vision, waterfall and location is a perfect venue for this adventure. While the gallery can easily accommodate 500 paintings, approximately 150 paintings will be juried into this exhibition. Located in the heart of the Panhandle of Texas with stunning natural landscape, Amarillo is a vibrant town offering visitors a wide variety of activities and cultural events, including unsurpassed painting opportunities.
About the Jury Committee The Society of Master Impressionists Jury Committee will jury the slide entries. The decision of the jury is final. There will be no refund of entry fees for unaccepted entries. Participants will be notified promptly of the jurors’ selections by mail, email and a posting on the Society of Master Impressionists website.
About the Awards Judge Morton E. Shipping Artists pay for shipping and insurance both ways. Pre-Payed both ways We recommend you make arrangements to insure your work for the full value of the artwork. Shipments from OUTSIDE the United States must be shipped “Free Domicile” or they WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Liabilities and Responsibilities The Society of Master Impressionists and/or The Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo or the Sunset Art Center will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause. By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist agrees to this statement. ABOUT THE AWARDS – Total Awards Value EST: $10,000.00 (More Awards Are Expected Postings-via website) Best of Show $5,000 Cash Award (min) Sunset Gallery of Amarillo $1,500 Cash Award also Featured Artist of the Month in The Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo More Awards Are Expected TBA All awards will be conferred based upon the merits of the paintings as judged by the awarding judge. It is possible that not all awards will be given if the awarding judge feels that there is not a suitable winner in any given award category. The judges’ decisions are final. This list represents the known awards at the time of printing this prospectus. It is likely that other awards will be available as other third party sponsors underwrite additional awards.
PAINTING REQUIREMENTS Mediums: Original Oil Paintings , Original Pastel Paintings , Original Watercolor (Includes transparent watercolor, gouache, casein and acrylic) Paintings and Original Sculpture (clay, terra cota and bronze) Maximum Size: Paintings size cannot exceed 30 x 40. No exceptions. Neither painting dimension can exceed 40 inches. Sculpture size must not exceed 48” in any direction (Including base) and weight must not exceed 200 pounds. Framing: Painting must be framed and wired for hanging. METAL FRAMES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. Artist Biography: One copy of the Artist’s Biography in English must be affixed to the back of the painting. A second copy must be included for show files. Exhibit History: Paintings submitted must not have been previously exhibited in retail or for sale situations. All artwork must be the original achievement of the submitting artist. Retail Pricing: All artwork must be for sale and the price must be in line with your current retail price structure in your galleries. If you do not exhibit in galleries and do not have a selling history to determine a reasonable price for your work, please contact the Society of Master Impressionists Jury for guidance via the website. Overpriced paintings will not be exhibited.
Gallery Commission: Gallery sales commission is 40% of the Retail Price (unless you are a Charter Subscriber.) Buyer contact info will be provided to the artist with their payment..
RESPONSIBILITIES OF ARTIST By entering the show, you agree that you have read and will abide by all rules outlined in this prospectus. If you enter the exhibition you agree that the painting entered will be available for the exhibition if it is accepted. If, after you submit your entry, you have the opportunity to sell the painting and wish to take advantage of that opportunity, the proper course of action is to channel the sale through the gallery, or send the gallery’s 40% commission when you send the painting. In either case, the painting still needs to hang in the exhibition. Failure to send your painting for exhibition after it has been accepted or failure to abide by any other rules or requirements in this prospectus may result in your Disqualification from future S.M.I. exhibitions. NO SUBSTITUTIONS OF ARTWORK WILL BE ALLOWED.
DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED PAINTINGS Local Artists: Deliver uncrated paintings to Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo 3701 Plains Blvd. #122 Amarillo, TX 79102 1-806-353-5700 ON THIS DATE ONLY: Saturday May 26, 2007 between the hours of 12pm and 6pm. For EACH painting include a $25 check payable to The Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo for handling fees. Out of Town Artists: Ship to: Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo 3701 Plains Blvd. #122 Amarillo, Texas 79102 Paintings must arrive the week of May 14-May 26, 2007. Include a $40 check For EACH box payable to Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo to cover the labor expense for uncrating, storage of crates, re-crating your painting and contacting a shipper for return. In a separate check, include a check made out to The Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo to cover the cost of return shipping unless you provide your billing account number with a shipping company. Both checks should be in an envelope inside the crate with your painting's).

SLIDE ENTRY INFORMATION -SMI International 2007 Exhibition DEADLINE FOR SLIDE ENTRIES: SATURDAY, March 31, 2007. Slide Entries arriving after this date will not be accepted. FEES FOR SLIDE ENTRIES: SLIDE ENTRY FEE FOR FIRST ENTRY: $25 SLIDE ENTRY FEE FOR ADDITIONAL ENTRIES: $20 Make check payable to the “SMI” or provide credit card number on the entry form. (Artists outside the U.S.A. and Canada: Pay by credit card only)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SLIDE ENTRIES: Each Slide Entry Must Include: • One photograph of the painting – max size 4” x 6”(Does not have to be professional) • One very high-quality slide of the painting • The slide must include information as shown in the diagram. • Slides must be 35mm with cardboard or plastic mount. • All return entry materials should be sent in #10 business size envelope (4 1/4 x 9 3/4 ) All submitted materials will remain in show archives and WILL NOT BE RETURNED.
FINAL ACCEPTANCE DATE: All packages postmarked after this date will be returned unopened. Please note; FedEx does not deliver to a post office box. Use the U. S. Postal Service to deliver your entry forms. Use a No. 10 size business envelope for return envelope. · Canvas size not to exceed 30” x 40” · Painting must be framed and wired for hanging · Sculpture size not to exceed 48” in any dimension and limited to less than 200 pounds · Submit one slide and one photo of the same artwork

Box 3112, Taos New Mexico 87571 Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance sent to artists via mail. PLEASE ALLOW ADEQUATE TIME FOR ARRIVAL OF NOTIFICATION CARDS. May 14-26 Shipped paintings must arrive at gallery. May 26 Hand-Delivered paintings must arrive at gallery between 12pm and 6pm. June 2 GALA EVENT AND SALE Doors open for art show and sales at 6:00 pm Awards 7:00 “Meet the Artists” and GALA EVENT celebration Open house reception for artists, collectors and press. Details will be mailed with the acceptance/rejection notices as well as posted on the website June 4th Exhibit opens on website Exhibition Hours July 2 Last day of exhibit July 3 Hand-delivered paintings must be picked up between 12pm and 6pm. July 4 Gallery BEGINS shipping unsold paintings to artists. PLEASE ALLOW TIME FOR PACKING AND SHIPPING. IT WILL TAKE TIME TO PACK AND SHIP ALL PAINTINGS.

If my artwork's) is/are accepted, I understand that The SMI’s International 2007 Exhibition show makes decisions based upon the entries and I herby commit to send the artwork's) for the exhibition. My artwork will be priced with a retail price commensurate with my normal pricing structure. If I absolutely must sell the painting prior to sending it for the exhibition, I will send the gallery its 40% commission and send the painting for exhibition. CHECKLIST · 2 High-Quality Slides of each painting or sculpture (for jury purposes) · 1 Photograph of each painting, 4x6 or smaller (for ID purposes only) · Entry Fee (Check or Credit Card Info) ($25 for 1, $45 for 2, $65 for 3, etc.) · In addition you must be a paid member through December 31, 2007 at a cost of $60.00 (unless a charter subscriber). This will also enable you to receive show catalog, newsletters etc. (see subscription form for information). Please include a separate check for subscription dues made payable to The Society of Master Impressionists. · If you have already paid your subscription dues for the year 2007, please disregard the subscription fee. Include entry form, and all checks in the same envelope.
